Great story and one I can relate to. 15 years ago, on my bachelor party, we did the rental pontoon/party cove adventure. We had a blast all day at the Cove, but on our way out things quickly changed. It seemed like everyone left the cove at once, including a couple "ships". Our designated driver, who was not that familiar with driving a boat (smart right?), nose dived into a large wake and our pontoon decided it wanted to be a submarine. I yelled, "Everyone to the back of the boat!" When the motor finally rose up out of the water, the pontoon righted itself, but not before we lost 3 coolers, towels, life jackets, and who knows what else. Trying to reel in all our lost goods was an adventure. Lesson learned for all of us that day! Thanks for bringing back those memories.

I heard a couple of these myths before, but not all of them. Thanks for clearing them up. I live way south by Ha Ha Tonka and I would hate to see the lake level sub 650. Do we know why the lake was lowered so low in 1977? Was work being done somewhere that they needed it that low?

I will be greatly miss my old friend Bob and will treasure the memories of the old car racing days in the Army and our renewed friendship at the lake. You were a wild and crazy guy with the need for speed and what a trip you had. RIP dear friend.

I graduated with Mike from School of the Osage and always admired him for all his accomplishments. Although he was great at all he did, he was still a very friendly and honorable person. I had the honor of attending his wedding, but have not been in touch with him since. Just want to say "Congrats and may God bless and keep you safe in your future journeys whether they be to the moon or wherever else in our great frontier". ~~Chandra

You hit the essence of Missouri tourism on the head for us. As we travel from coast to coast on various occasions, we delay our arrival times by a week spending time in various areas of Missouri exploring and discovering new Missouri wine and vineyard delights. You've perked our interest in a few wineries and locations that we have yet to find. Thank you.

Did Mrs. Becky (Vogt) Huntsman author this article? I was in her classes for both Jr. High English, and later, Speech and Drama. We had a lot of fun back then! Spending time in her classes are some of my fondest memories from my years at School of the Osage!
