Sept | Oct Issue – Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Bagnell Dam

LO Profile | August 29, 2011

“Find out where people are going to vacation and retire, and buy land before they build a second home or retire there.” It’s obvious that the biggest event at the Lake of the Ozarks was the construction of Bagnell Dam 80 years ago, but the many family businesses that invested in the Lake are the reasons why the Lake is where it is today. From the Koplar-Brown family of Four Seasons, the Duenke family of Tan-Tar-A, the Palmer family of Casino Pier and the Mace family of Lee Mace’s Ozark Opry to the many who have come and gone in between — they are the pioneers who paved the way for generations of growth and business opportunities at the Lake.
