It’s that time of year, when the lighter clothing is coming out and one realizes he/she may have overindulged during the colder months. Glance in the mirror and take a look at your body, then decide what you’re going to do about it. The best answer is: Everything in moderation and know your product! This is my best advice for the person trying to stay on a healthy path while still enjoying a cocktail.

As I sat on the bed at 3 a.m. in a house — full of strangers — that would become my new home for the summer, I thought, “What have I gotten myself into?” Here was my musical theatre actress, volleyball playing and half-marathon running self sitting with a crown on my head. A few short hours ago, something I had written on my bucket list as a dream had become a reality… I had been named Miss Missouri 2013.
